This bursary program is designed to help unemployed youth gain crucial skills in forklift operation and enter the workforce as certified operators.
At Alika Training, we understand that youth unemployment is a significant challenge in South Africa, particularly in communities like Benoni and its surrounding areas. By providing free forklift training, we aim to give young people the opportunity to develop practical skills that will make them job-ready and capable of entering the workforce with confidence.
Our forklift training is industry-recognized, ensuring that all students who complete the program are fully qualified to operate forklifts safely and effectively. This is critical in industries like warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing, where certified forklift operators are in high demand.
In addition to technical skills, we also emphasize the importance of workplace safety, ensuring that all of our bursary recipients are trained in best practices for operating machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
We want to make it clear that Alika Training does not work with agents or third parties in the selection process for our bursaries. We have a direct relationship with all applicants, and the selection process is handled by Alika Training’s management. There are no hidden intermediaries or affiliations with any political party, ensuring a transparent and fair selection process for all applicants.
If your business uses forklifts or other machinery, there are several ways you can support the Alika Forklift Bursary Program and help us empower unemployed youth:
Offer Jobs or Internships: If your company requires forklift operators, consider offering job placements or internships to our bursary recipients. This will provide them with valuable hands-on experience and help them transition from training to employment.
Sponsor a Bursary: Companies can sponsor one or more young people to receive forklift training through our bursary program. Your sponsorship will cover the full cost of their training, enabling us to offer more opportunities to unemployed youth.
Donate Machinery: If your business has unused or spare forklifts, reach trucks, or other types of machinery, consider donating them to Alika Training. This will allow us to expand our training offerings and increase the number of bursaries we can offer.
Provide In-House Training: If your company needs to train employees or renew certifications for forklift operators, Alika Training can provide on-site training tailored to your needs. Proceeds from these corporate training services are reinvested into our bursary program.
By partnering with us, companies can make a significant contribution to addressing youth unemployment while ensuring they have a pool of qualified, skilled operators ready to join their teams.
Alika Training encourages employers to reach out to us for skilled and newly certified forklift and machinery operators. In 2021, Alika Training successfully completed a Supply Chain Learnership Program, which saw a 78% graduation rate despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program, funded by the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA), provided accredited training in Supply Chain Management and was a significant success in helping young people find employment in the logistics and distribution sectors.
You can read about the graduation ceremony and the success stories of our learnership graduates in the Benoni City Times article: Learnership recipients graduate from Alika Training Academy.
Looking forward to 2024, we are preparing to launch new Supply Chain Learnerships at both the National Certificate and National Diploma levels.
