eKayzone South Africa has established that Liquidator Anoosh Rooplal instructed FNB to freeze former President Jacob Zuma's accounts.
This action was taken due to the former president's continued default on the loan he had taken from the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank.

Most of main stream Media houses, including eKayzone, established that;  FNB said it had to partially freeze Zuma's account due to a court order obtained by VBS Mutual Bank liquidator Anoosh Rooplal. “FNB was instructed by the high court to place a hold on outgoing payments from South African and ANC former president Zuma's FNB account.

Media reports last week indicated that Zuma was ordered by the lawyers of VBS curator Anoosh Rooplal to pay at least R250 000, relating to repayments of a loan, if he did not want his Nkandla compound attached.

The MK Party has slammed FNB for the closure of its president Jacob Zuma’s bank accounts

FNB earlier said the decision to close his accounts was based on an order of the High Court in KwaZulu-Natal. But MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said the decision was politically motivated and not based on reputational risk as claimed by the bank.

Some political leaders have questioned the timing by FNB to close the bank account of former president Jacob Zuma’s with elections a few months away.

Zuma has been leading the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party for the last four months after he announced his support for the new party.
